Ending the drought of research in cannabis

STEP-1: Fund research

Science.org reported that of the $1.65B dollars spent on research by Canada, The UK, and the US just about half of that amount was spent on understanding the abuse of using cannabis. Only < $200M was spent on understanding the use of cannabis as a medicine. Where we spend our dollars in the future will dictate our intentions with the use of cannabis. The real question is will the focus be on creating powerful psycho-actives or will we being to fully invest in cannabis as medicine?

STEP-2 : Do the research

2021 saw the largest number of peer-review research articles published with over 3.5k. Yet many believe that the FDA is still too restrictive with respect to cannabis research. To do the research necessary an organization must go through 3 different bodies for permission and even after gaining permission funding is still limited. It appears that academia believes in cannabis as a good form of medicine. We society move towards cannabis? We hope so which is why we are also researchers and engineers working to create a space where cannabis research can be accelerated.
